Build Core Skills

Module 1

Introduction to Gardening & Sustainability

Horticulture overview, basic plant science, tool safety, sustainable gardening, careers.

Module 2

Public Parks

Work experience at Centennial Parklands, learn propagation, weed management, park routines.

Module 3

The Circular Economy Project

Learn circular economy, manage recycling project, explore sustainability and green jobs.

Module 4

Wholesale & Retail Horticulture

Learn retail horticulture, nursery operations, floristry basics, garden retail logistics.

Semester 2

Prepare for Employment · Work experience begins

Module 5

Foundations of Gardening & Sustainability

Review gardening basics, plant propagation, tool safety, set personal learning goals.

Module 6

Community Edible Garden Project

Design, build, maintain community edible garden; learn composting and harvesting.

Module 7

Innovation in Gardening & Sustainability

Explore smart irrigation, urban farming, climate-resilient landscaping, conservation horticulture excursion and urban greening careers.

Module 8

Landscaping & Outdoor Maintenance Careers

Landscaping roles, turf care, construction basics, work experience in landscaping and outdoor garden maintenance.

Work Experience begins in Semester 2.

Work experience begins in Semester 2 at Centennial Parklands, nurseries and local landscaping businesses, with facilitator support fading as independence grows.
